Similar to USS washers, but with slightly smaller inside and outside diameters. Also, most but not all SAE washers are made from thinner materials than USS washers. SAE washers were designated to serve similar purposes as the USS washer, but specifically to meet the requirements in the field of automotive engineering.

DIN 125 refers to a standard metric flat washer. The difference in OD relative to ID is the difference between the DIN 125 and DIN 433, with DIN 433s having an OD that is smaller relative to the ID than DIN 125s.
